Ingredients
- 1 (10 1/2 oz) can Campbell's French onion soup
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1–3 tsp Worcestershire sauce, to taste
- 1/2 tsp mustard powder
- 1/4 cup water
Method
- Mix 1/3 cup of the onion soup with ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Shape mixture into six oval patties.
- Heat a skillet to medium-high and brown patties until nicely crusted. Drain excess fat.
- In a small bowl, whisk remaining onion soup with flour until smooth.
- Stir in ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard powder to the sauce.
- Pour sauce over patties in the skillet. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Serve hot, ideally with creamy mashed potatoes or your favorite sides.
