Chicken & Dressing Casserole

This filling dinner is easy to make and your family will love it
Ingredients
- 4 cups shredded chicken
- 4 cups cornbread or cubed dried bread
- 1 cup chopped celery
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1 can cream of onion soup
- 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp poultry seasoning
- 1/2 tsp dried sage
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Gravy:
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté onion and celery until tender.
- In a large bowl, combine cornbread, shredded chicken, sautéed vegetables, sage, poultry seasoning, cream of onion soup, and a splash of chicken broth. Mix well.
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread the mixture evenly and bake for 45 minutes.
- For the gravy, melt butter in a skillet and whisk in flour until golden brown. Gradually add chicken broth, salt, and pepper, stirring until thickened.
- Stir in heavy cream and simmer for 5-10 minutes until silky.
- Drizzle gravy over casserole before serving.
- Optional: Garnish with parsley or green onions.
