Ingredients

  • 4 medium russet potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons butter or oil (for frying)

Method

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
  2. Grate the potatoes and place them in a clean kitchen towel. Squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Transfer the grated potatoes to a large bowl.
  3. Mix the Ingredients:
  4. Add the grated onion, shredded cheese, flour, beaten eggs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to the bowl. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
  5. Form the Hash Browns:
  6. Take a handful of the mixture and shape it into patties, about 3–4 inches in diameter.
  7. Cook the Hash Browns:
  8. Heat butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  9. Fry the hash browns in batches, cooking for about 3–4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Press gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking.
  10. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
  11. Serve:
  12. Serve hot with sour cream, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.
